Software News

Microsoft has announced that, effective June 30, 2006, they will no longer be supporting Windows 98 and Windows Me. This means that as of this date, they will not be providing any technical support or security updates for these products. Therefore, we strongly recommend upgrading any computers running these operating systems to Windows XP. For more information from Microsoft, click here.

The right software solution can help your business streamline operations, improve customer satisfaction and increase sales.

The following describes five tell-tale signs that suggest that your current software is not the right solution for your business.

Spreadsheets, Spreadsheets and More Spreadsheets...

The widespread use of spreadsheet files to manage business data may be the number one indicator that a business has the wrong software.

Tracking business data in spreadsheets has a number of significant disadvantages when compared to database-oriented business software.

  • Spreadsheet files cannot be opened (for editing) by more than one user at a time.

  • Spreadsheets usually lack the data entry validation that is required to ensure the validity and integrity of data.

  • Using spreadsheets creates an ever-growing number of files that become increasing difficult to manage.

  • Disconnected spreadsheets make reporting across departments and over time virtually impossible.

  • Spreadsheet files are often stored on individual PC's where they are rarely, if ever, backed up, and are at risk from a system crash.

  • Drowning In Paper

While the dream of a paperless office has yet to materialize, if your organization is drowning in piles of paper, this is a sure sign that you have the wrong software.

The right software puts important information at your fingertips, virtually eliminating the need to dig up hard copies of business documents. While printed copies may still be required, they remain in the filing cabinet where they belong.

Today's leading software can also eliminate much of the need for paper copies by making documents available to customers and suppliers in electronic format (such as PDF) via email and the Internet.

    Post-it Notes Galore

If your office is wallpapered with Post-it notes, this is another sign that your software isn't properly doing its job.

Virtually all business processes include target dates and deadlines.

The right software solution incorporates shared schedules and automated reminders to help ensure that targets and deadlines are met.

Target dates and deadlines that are consistently met make for happy customers and increased sales.

    Costly Mistakes

Are constant mistakes dragging down your bottom line?

Mistakes in order fulfillment and customer service may be the number one reason for unhappy customers and sagging sales.

By streamlining and standardizing day-to-day business operations, the right software can help eliminate errors by ensuring that business is conducted in a predictable and consistent manner.

If your customers know they count on you to deliver the promised results every time, customer satisfaction will improve and so will your sales.

The Left Hand Doesn't Know What the Right Hand Is Doing

Does it sometimes seem that the individuals or departments within your organization operate like separate businesses?

Employees and departments that do not work effectively together result in a business that does not properly serve its customers.

The right software solution is effectively used across all company departments in order to ensure that your business operates as a team with common goals and objectives.

If no single piece of software can perform all required functions, the integration of multiple applications can produce a solution that works for the whole organization.
